As one of POWDR Corp's winter resorts, Eldora focuses on a particular audience of skiers and boarders. Located outside of Boulder, CO, it attracts a committed core of snow sports enthusiasts. Particular to this group are lesson programs that Eldora wanted to feature.
After compiling insights from quantitative and qualitative research, I discovered that the numerous lesson products Eldora offers overwhelmed many guests, resulting in task abandonment. So the real culprit was the paradox of choice. Many maketers hold the false belief that adding more content to a page makes locating the right product easier for guests to make decisions. In fact, the opposite is true. More is less.
The design solution was clear: An easy-to-use product finder that allowed guests to filter among the many lesson programs to find just the right one. The results:
After launching this feature in the Fall of 2019 all lessons programs sold out. Same for 2020 and 2021, proving that a reductive content strategy and simple UX design deliver results.
